Instructors
Founded in 2024 by Grace Jambois and Dr. Melissa Marrapese, House of Classical Pilates is rooted in the authentic practice of Pilates as created by Joseph Pilates. Grace specializes in advanced movement and orthopedic massage, while Melissa integrates a holistic approach to health and wellness. Together, they are dedicated to guiding clients toward strength, balance, and overall well-being.
Grace Jambois
Meet Grace Jambois, Owner of House of Classical Pilates.
Originally from Chicago, Grace spent many years in Seattle before relocating to Napa. She began her journey in movement as a yoga instructor before discovering her passion for Pilates. Grace enjoys hiking—both urban and rural—and spending time with the community. You can often catch her planning a themed event. You might also meet her two dogs, Frank and Curtis, who occasionally make appearances at the studio!
Classical Pilates Expertise
As a Classical Pilates instructor trained under the guidance of Joel Crosby, Grace is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the original method developed by Joseph Pilates. She focuses on core principles such as precision, control, and breath, ensuring that each movement is performed with intention and alignment. Grace believes in the power of classical techniques to improve strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness. Her sessions emphasize foundational exercises while progressively challenging clients to deepen their practice and achieve their personal goals.
Assessment & Manual Therapy
Grace specializes in resolving structural and mechanical issues through advanced movement techniques, including The Madeline Black Method™ and orthopedic massage. These complementary approaches work together to enhance movement quality, health, and physical capacity. The Madeline Black Method focuses on assessing and improving movement patterns, while orthopedic massage targets specific muscle groups to release tension and promote recovery. Together, they enable clients to move more efficiently in Pilates classes and throughout their daily lives. With her keen assessment skills, Grace identifies dysfunction and develops tailored plans that address individual needs. This holistic approach not only improves performance in Pilates but also fosters greater ease and comfort in everyday activities.
Dr. Melissa Marrapese
Meet Dr. Melissa Marrapese, Owner of House of Classical Pilates.
Melissa is a licensed psychologist and maintains an active practice in Napa Valley. Melissa first discovered Pilates in graduate school but began regularly studying and practicing in 2018. In 2020, she was involved in a serious car accident that resulted in chronic pain, frequent migraines, and surgery. Over time, she has healed and reshaped her body. She credits her recovery to the steady practice of classical Pilates as created by Joseph Pilates. When not in the studio, Melissa enjoys spending time with her two dogs, long hikes, travel, food and wine and learning Italian!
Classical Pilates Expertise
Melissa advocates for practicing pilates in its original form and on the original equipment. She completed classical mat pilates certification in 2022 and full systems training in 2024, under the tutelage of Classical Pilates Education and Joel Crosby. Melissa is passionate about health and wellness and strives to incorporate a holistic understanding of mind and body.
